I'm very excited about this  :)%  This is for Fulton, Dekalb, and Clayton county residents. Please let me know if you have neighbors with pit bulls that aren't fixed. I have a friend that is going to go around and talk to people with me. Atlanta Bully Rescue is happy to help with transportation. We also offer free food, crates, leashes, collars, vaccines, etc. to people that allow us to fix their dogs.

this is from a friend of mine who lives near EAV
========
The sweet pit bull we found last Friday was returned to his owner on Sunday evening. The dog is NOT neutered & we informed the owner of several low cost options and he seemed open minded to it...well this morning, guess who was back at our door? He has a small chain around his neck, not tags and it looks like he probably chewed through whatever his owner was using to tether him. I'm now looking for financial help to get him fixed and decided to foster him while he heals and see how my dogs get along with him for the next month or so, to determine if we'll keep him. Please contact me if you'd like to donate a few bucks to get him fixed and his vaccinations. We need $125 total for the surgery and get his shots up to date. We, like everyone are strapped for cash, but I thought I'd ask and every little bit helps! Thanks everyone!! ♥

update: we called Lifeline who for Feb. was providing free spay for pits, but when I called they said the 100 vouchers they recv'd from the national humane society were gone. I'll check Atl. Humane Soc. out. Do u think it's presumptuous of me to assume the "owner" is not being responsible & take this step?

i want to tell her to be careful taking her neighbors dog, for various reasons and because they will probably just get another unaltered dog.... sending PM to Leah and Whitnerd if you have any advice for her. THanks!!

Legally, she has to turn him into animal control for 5 days to give his owners a chance to reclaim him. Both Dekalb and Fulton county animal services will usually work with us and if we get the owner to agree to get the dog(s) fixed, they'll waive the fines and only charge us for the neuter and rabies vaccine, usually $65-100. Unfortunately, if you just take the person's dog (which is what I use to think was best in some cases), they'll just go out and get another dog and the cycle continues. In the past few years, I've come to the conclusion that it's really best to help people get their dogs back and become more responsible pet owners. If the situation is abusive or extreme neglect, then I call in the authorities.
