I will have candy for the kids! And, if any buzzer wants some, but be in costume.

I think it's permissible to have Halloween-themed parties on a weekend adjacent to Halloween, but general trick-or-treating is for Oct 31. But  :(~ I'm just weak when there's that sort of candy in the house.
Next time you drink a homebrew, thank Jimmy Carter, who on October 14, 1978 signed H.R.1337 legalizing homebrewing in the United States.

Oh, of course. My hardline stance is only for the trick-or-treating. Have all the parties in the surrounding week/ends you desire.  :D
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity but they've always worked for me.

For us Halloween has become an all week event.  There's this party and that thing, and this parade and that event and then once you finally get to the actual holiday the costumes are worn out and we're all cross and irritated about it.  This being our 13th year of this stuff I find it hard to even get motivated.  I don't even decorate anymore.  Such a party pooper.  :(

As an aside, while I was desperately searching Target for black hair dye (which they are out of) I passed aisle after aisle of Christmas shit.  Really?  Why do we have to start a full two month early?  This is insane.
