Car Detailing/Body Shop?
« on: February 03, 2012, 07:58 am »
So, I was rear-ended on the connector on the way home from work on Wednesday.  No one was going too fast and any damage is minimal.  However, I'm faced with a bit of a dilemma...

The only obvious effects are some white paint on my rear bumper, and a couple areas where it's a little scuffed.  I don't want to be an ass ding someone's insurance for a new bumper for something that could quite possibly be just buffed out.  But, I don't know where to go to get an opinion on that.  I'm afraid if I take it to a body shop, they'll just proscribe a new bumper and be done with it.

Any suggestions of who I could go to to see if I'm in new bumper territory or not?

I should add -

I just had a new bumper installed on my car about a year ago when someone hit me in the EARL parking lot.  Bit of a pain in the ass to deal with (between rental car and all that).  That said, I'm not the one who caused the accident, and I don't know if there's any underlying damage, so should I just go ahead and get what's mine?

I would go to the shop next to ace/village fitness and ask for Travis (tell him lori sent you).  Tell him the deal and get a quickie quote for it and then contact the person who caused the accident and see if they want to make a deal.  I would gladly pay 200 bucks to keep it off my insurance if it was something small like that.
Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise
