I remember other Buzz threads such as this one, in the past. Perhaps a year or two ago?

Apparently there's a way to nuke the RFID out of credit cards.  It's something like putting the card in a microwave for a very short amount of time, but obviously I'd encourage researching this first...

I've had my CC number abused a few times, not related to EAV most likely.  It's the main reason I look closely at my CC bills :(

@toriontherun You mention most of your purchases being "north to Midtown." Any chance you frequented the Planet Smoothie on Peachtree?

Is anyone having problems with their debit/credit card numbers being stolen that frequents businesses in our area? Most of my purchases are from Grant Park north to Midtown and east to Decatur. My number has been stolen 3 times now in less than nine months. I haven't been able to figure out where it is happening at. Is anyone having this problem and have any ideas on where it is going on at? The fraud department mentioned gas stations as a frequent cause.

Yesterday I got a call from my bank asking me about a suspicious use of my debit card (Pre Pay Media?) for over $900.  Very glad they caught it.

I just found a $600 fraud charge on my AMEX card.  the night before we had been at Marys.  I also had used Paypal to make a donation that week as well.  Those are the only out of character charges that I made on my card.  Everything else were places that I shop at frequently.

The charge was to Wayfair.com for a "ladylux pro sink" which brings up sink faucets.  We did not order any faucets.  there is an additional charge for $1000 to that same company that is still pending, so I can't tell what they bought, but AMEX took care of it.

anyway... check your statements y'all!

That's a pretty heavy item to have charged.  Hopefully the credit card company can get information on where that was to be sent, and catch the ass-clowns.

I know right!?  I wish I could have gotten info about where it was sent.

I want to add I was in Steamboat Springs, CO the week before and made 2 charges while there.  So they are a possible suspect as well.

I am not trying to cast shade at Marys, I love that place!

Also edited to add my husband used his card at Mary's the same night with no fraud showing on his card.

It's also possible that it was skimmed/stolen a while ago, and they've just waited / sold the number to someone else to deflect suspicion.

I worked at Global Payments last year and walked out of the job the place was so fucked up.  Worst job I've ever had in my life, poorly run beyond my wildest imagination, constant firefighting due to the completely fucked up infrastructure and PISS POOR code!!!  Truly frightening that they are in any way involved in financial transactions.

oh that's so funny! I know someone who works at another of their locations doing a different job and she also walked out!

And this appearance of Global Payments comes as no surprise to me at all.  Glad I walked out of there a year ago and I'm not dealing with this mess now!
