Never heard of DViDiot or any other video rental place here.

It's a typo.  Village Vidiot was the rental place, between Cafe Hinds and RAW Gallery.  I think they lasted until 2001 or 02.

I wondered about that. Might they have altered their name to focus on "DVD" during the death throws of the home video rental industry?

The Cap'n is right.  It was Vidiot and they added the DVD part towards the end of their run.

I vote for early 2003.  We moved here in July 2001 and HB&B was here, Cycle City Graveyard was still up and running.  Iris hadn't opened yet, but Good News was here.

It makes sense.  Maybe it was just on paper.  I occupied the RAW space shortly after and still remember the original signage being up there.

On design alone, those "down shots" of people (stock photos) were really popular in very early 2000's.

I'm going to go with the dates of 2002-03.

Darn, I was hoping that the items I possess would provide insight (or a copyright date).

EAV Promo Card (front)

EAV Promo Card (back)

Village Vidiot Business Card

And at least these were better than the page in Atlanta Magazine from 1999

whose map shows Flat Shoals Avenue being WEST of Moreland Avenue (click to see s super-sized version of this photo)

Hmmm  well in that case I will go with 2002 depending on when you moved here in 03, because the DVillage Idiot was the video rental place in between Hind's place and Earthshaking in that section where the funky burglar bars is right next to Hind's place on Stokeswood and if they list that as open and it was not there (or maybe you just never saw it) in 03 then 2002 it is!

Mr. Murder made the funky burglar bars.

Cool, those are cool and I'm glad they're still there!  When did he make them? 2000-2001?

Yes around that time period. He made them when the Vidiot store opened. My guess for this game is 2002 that map was made.
