booting cars in suntrust lot
« on: February 08, 2012, 03:35 pm »
I just got a call from the property manager for the building that is occupied by suntrust and a real estate company, who's name I can't remember. Said property manager informed me that, starting next week, all cars parked in that lot for other businesses will be booted, DAY OR NIGHT. I asked if he wanted my opinion, and I gave it to him, anyway. I explained to him the loosey goosey parking situation here, and how designated parking is never enforced. I also told him of others in the neighborhood who have tried to enforce private lots. All fell on deaf ears. Booting starts next week. So, my suggestion to all here is to begin by dropping by either business in that building and show our collective disapproval for losing a shit-ton of parking in our already parking-deprived village. The next step should be flaming torches and angry mobs. Or maybe boycots.

Wow - the whole lot even around back? This calls for some EACA intervention.

That was an IPP property once upon a time. I'd heard it was in threat of foreclosure but don't know if it ever changed hands.

I be confused as well. Just the spots with the signs saying that these spots are designated for Suntrust customers or also the spots up against the (shitty) fence? I park there pretty much every morning to run in and grab a cup of coffee at Joe's. I will be shooting fire mad if they plan on booting that whole parking lot and I am pretty sure it would end up hurting Joe's as well.

That's ridiculous... Joes will take a huge hit there... and FI.
WTF... they don't need the lot at night / weekends.
Assholic. Somebody thinking about making a pay lot out of it?

Restricting + booting = de facto pay lot.

I've got my pitchfork and torch ready. Just tell me what I need to do. Seriously, what do we need to do? Hollywood, where are you?

They just need to have a "Boot Crazy Week" in the village sometime where all lot owners go on a free-for-all, booting all "unauthorized" cars...get that shit out of their system and see for themselves just how far downhill the village can go when they start doing this.

...followed quickly by a "Booting Fee Refund Day", of course.

Yes...the building foreclosed and is now bank-owned.  So it must be the new bank owner's designated property manager.

Do we know which bank now owns it?

I don't remember the specifics of that building, but in a lot of his deals Notrica was borrowing from non-bank entities (a trust fund from some place called The Bootery comes to mind). If it went back to some investor group or an entity other than a regular bank, that might make it more likely they'd want to squeeze some more money out of their asset.

Question still remains -- the designated Suntrust spots or are the back spaces included in this booting free-for-all?

I know for right now this is all speculation because no one has been booted, but the Buzz loves speculation, especially when it comes to parking.

IIRC, no new pay lots are allowed, under NC zoning.  All it means is that there will be a lot of arguing about whether or not the bootee actually patronized a business in that building.

I can see Joe's and Avenue being quite cheesed about it.

Pure retardation.  So now:  If you want to go to the gym, then get a cup of coffee, then buy something at Trader's, you either find some OSP, or you move your car three times.  Huzzah for walkability.

I wonder if SunTrust or the real estate agent complained to the new landlords.  Otherwise I can't fathom why this would have been something even on the radar of the new owner.

The other possibility would be whoever they used for due diligence at the time of transfer reported back to them that the lot is frequently used by people patronizing non-building businesses.
