Commercial For Rent (Not Abe) In EAV?
« on: February 13, 2012, 01:58 pm »
I am curious, for those of you walking the village more frequently than I. What have you noticed for rent in the village (commercial) that is not an Abe property.

I am not in the market today, but I am thinking about the possibility of bringing ScreenFixing.com (my iPhone repair business) to a retail storefront in the village at some point. Trying to find out what retail/small store fronts are going for and if anything is owned by a landlord that is not a douche.

Janet Ridgeway owns old Echo Lounge space and the old Village Vidiot space.  The old Village Vidiot space is for rent I think and is small enough for your type of store.  Janet is actually a pretty cool person, but it has been 10 years since I've had contact with her.

I'm fairly certain the old Echo is an Abe Asher property.

Janet never owned the Echo Lounge building.  You're correct about the other space though, and it may be affordable for Nate of he doesn't require many amenities.  Janet never seems very involved with the building though and has been hard to get in touch with in the past.  If you really wanted to look onto it though, I would contact Dave S. at Earthshaking and see if he thought it was double.

The Village Vidiot space could work, but I have never been inside there and it seems that Janet Ridgeway is not a fan of being contacted about anything. Can anyone tell me anything about it from the last time they happened to have been in that space? I certainly don't need a lot of amenities or square footage for now.

Like I said, at this point, I am not sure I am ready to take the plunge into a retail location but I like the exploration of it and setting some goals for the business.

The Village Vidiot has a straight view to The Midway too, which makes it even more exciting. When was the last time that place was occupied?

I think when it was The Village Vidiot. Man, I had forgotten about that place!! When we moved to EAV first we used to rent from them every week. I kinda miss the whole going to the video store thing.

Last occupied ~2001, probably around 800 SF and I don't believe there's any plumbing.

Been too long for me to remember exactly what was what over there, but last I heard Jason from Village Hardware was using some of the space by Earthshaking for his wood working.

You're thinking of the old RAW space between Vidiot and Earthshaking.

Could very well be. Like I said - hard for me to envision what was what way back when.

The Vidiot space is actually partitioned out of the larger woodworking space, although they (still) have two distinct "storefronts", as it were.

Janet is active on Facebook. I'm not friends with her, but several of my friends are, and I see her comment on their posts.

If it ends up being more space than you need, and you have any interest in a sharing type situation, I might be interested. Looking to move some portion of our business to EAV, at least an office or two.

I know the old library also has several empty spaces in it.  I am not sure how good/bad the landlord is there but I could find out.

I would love to relocate my law office into the village.  Anyone have contact info for the old library?
