Who Owns What in EAV?
« on: August 29, 2011, 12:17 pm »

Looking for a map or listing of the various commercial property owners in EAV. Wife is interested in opening a retail shop, possibly in EAV. Want to make sure and avoid Abe's properties while we poke around and call for prices.

I had one once upon a time, but much has changed. I'd suggest looking the address up in DeKalb property records. Abe owns as Abe Asher, so it's easy to avoid (if the shitty condition of the property you looked at hadn't already tipped you off).

I remember seeing a map here on the buzz in the past year or two.  Admittedly some has changed, but it's a starting point if we can find it.

In general, doesn't Abe own the east side of Flat Shoals north of Glenwood and the good landlord owns the west side?
On the south side of Flat shoals, I thought Abe owned most of the Glenwood corner properties, including the former Ponder Wonder space with the perennially leaking roof.

Here's a map:  http://www.eavbuzz.net/forum/eav-properties/updated-map-of-eav-property-owners/

No telling what's happened with the IPP properties, but I think it's pretty fair to guess that Abe's holdings haven't decreased since this was current.

Cool, thanks. Tan and more is part of Abe's holdings correct? This is very helpful. We'll entertain any of the other landlord's offerrings, but there's no way we're getting into a business agreement with a dirt bag well-known for breaking them.

I tried to assist an acquaintance in leasing a spot from Mr. Asher. Let's just say that "his representative" flat out refused to follow any standard protocols designed to protect tenants from bad business dealings. I advised not, under any circumstances, to enter into the garbage lease that group was proposing.  It was loan shark standards for comparison. I was disgusted. Unreasonably one sided doesn't begin to describe that garbage document. It is certainly his right, as property owner, to insist on an unreasonable document, but it's also my right to advise my client to tell him to shove it!   |@|

From what I hear, Midway recently bought their building and the smaller parking lot behind it (not the big lot with the building in the middle). Apparently they are in process of getting No Trespassing signs and enforcing them, to get rid of Mr. H's hangout zone.

Oh, you mean there actually was a document proffered?  I thought most of his deals were scribbled on napkins; I think a reasonable bet he's illiterate or at least does not read English well.

If IPP doesn't pay all of their taxes, their property is going up for auction December 11. The feds kept coming up to the door demanding $11,000 in backtaxes just on the house. I decided that I didn't really want to break lease during the school year and got out of there.
