Raw tomatoes

It seems like a good chunk of people hate raw tomatoes but don't have a problem with tomato sauces.
What about you?
Have any of you ever seen any research on the subject? My friend the Google didn't help me.

I love raw garden fresh ripe tomatoes but I despise ketchup and pale tomatoes. I'm not a big pasta fan but I wouldn't say I hate tomato sauce.

I hate under ripe grocery store tomatoes.  Tomatoes need to be picked ripe, not green, then trucked in from Mexico and gassed with ethylene.  They are like pink styofoam.

The first time I ate at the EARL, I was blown away by the red ripe tomato on my burger, in February!  You can't get that at an expensive restaurant any time of year.

I love to go to the farmers' market in the summer and get tomatoes that are about to explode with juice.  Definitely a locavore item.

I don't like the taste or texture or raw tomatoes. I've tried growing my own, and I still don't like 'em. I love sundried tomatoes, tomato products like paste, sauce, etc. i used my many homegrown ones to make a marinara.

I eat raw tomatoes every day, but only the nice ripe on-the-vine ones. Ketchup and tomato sauce? Bring it! I'm just not a huge fan of mushy cooked tomatoes.

I don't like raw tomatoes at all. The texture and consistency is bleh. But I LOVE ketchup, tomato sauce, and even cooked tomatoes...

Ketchup, tomatoes, salsa, tomato sauce, love it all!

My sister is one of the people who likes it all but not tomatoes though.

I love everything based in tomatoes, sauce, salsa, etc.  I used to hate raw tomatoes, but if you get a good one (like one from FL's garden) I love them on a tomato sandwich.  I am not sure why I hated them when I did or why I like them now, but there is nothing I hate worse than a raw tomato that is too green or just not ripe, on anything.

i'm from italian descent so of course tomatoes are a big deal in my family. i like raw tomatoes and sauce, but i have always pick out the chunks of tomato in sauce and eat around them in salsa. my dad still give me a hard time about it. i'm not even sure why i do it. i'm guessing it was a texture thing from when i was a kid. i have gotten better recently.

Here's my Jersey again... nothing like a good New Jersey tomato... I can't stomach most of the ones down here, but had the best tomatoes ever grown by a friend in Ormewood Park in her back yard. We were eating them like candy last year!

I know a guy who is both terrified of lightning and had a severe aversion to the skin of raw tomatoes.  He couldn't explain it any better than that because he didn't even want to talk about them.

I hate raw tomatoes to the point of not wanting them as garnish on my plate.  Tomato products are okay as long as they are pureed, and the flavor is not overwhelming.  For example, I will not touch tomato soup.

It is a texture and taste thing for me as well.

I love tomatoes but only if they're not mealy.  :O<  Grocery store tomatoes are usually gross. Tomatoes from my garden are yummy. Tomato sauce, salsa, pretty much anything made with tomatoes is a yay in my book.
