Christmas trees, Cub Scouts, and a wood chipper
« on: December 29, 2011, 05:02 pm »
Bring one for the chipper day is Saturday January 7th at Grant Park. If you've done it before, you know you just drop your tree off and they chip it up. No muss or fuss.

This year, Cub Scout Pack 688 is offering to make even less fuss. For a donation of $10, we'll come to your house, pick it up, and take it over for you. You don't even have to get out of your jammies. This is a fundraiser for the pack and 100% of the proceeds go to us (planning Red Cross certification, but we'll see).

So to be clear: Bring One for the Chipper is free. Don't cost nothin'.
Delivery of your tree is $10.

We're only doing pre-orders, so if you're interested (which will tell me how many scouts I'll need in advance), send me a PM with:

Your name
Address
Contact phone
email (which will be how I communicate back with you all)

(And yes, that is also village clean up day for the trees. I will be duplicating myself and doing whatever needs to be done. If folks can get the tree down by 12:30 pm, we'll take that one over for free.)

...As visions of Fargo danced in their heads...

This sounds like some Druidic horror film.

Wait. It's the trees that go in the chipper?

Or maybe they're happy and content, living their little donut lives until the monstrous humans come along to rip their doughy flesh open with their teeth, sucking up their jelly innards.

Bump.

(I've asked Ken to block images for users with a cub scout IP, so we're good.)

I'd love to have our tree picked up and donate to the Boy Scouts.  What do I need to do to set this up?

<------I just added my email addy to my profile, so send me a message with name, address, and phone number and I'll message you back with an approximate time (let me know if you're averse to either before 10am or after 11:30 or so).

And thank you.  |@|

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped make this a success for the boys. We picked up a tree, on average, once every 4 minutes yesterday morning and raised enough for first aid training (they might be too young for certification -- so we might get some other thing in there).

Thanks all. It was pretty amazing what we were able to raise with a week of effort and the generosity of the neighborhood.
