Seed Swap: Jan 29th 1-4pm Holy Comforter
« on: November 26, 2011, 02:59 pm »
Who wants to seed swap any and all types of fresh seeds (no more than a year old) Jan 22 2012 (probably around 3pm, location will vary depending on how many participants).

Items will need to be packed and labeled.

Name of the seed AND BOTANICAL NAME (this is important, because many flowers and tomatoes etc. go by the same common name, and if you aren't sure, you can ask here).
Annual, perennial, herb, shrub, tree or vegetable seed (if it isn't obvious, but please don't assume someone will know the first 5)
Color of bloom, fruit, vegetable
height and general size
any other information you can find. Googling to find more information is always good!

if you want a to make your own printer packages: http://63.254.226.35/A55C37/mdd.nsf/dx/Make-your-own-seed-packets.htm?opendocument&comments

You can use a snack baggie labeled with the above information

You can get bead bags (which is what I do) from Family Dollar or Walmart and make labels

There will be folks with nothing.

I myself will have older seeds (older than 1 year) that I will not offer for swapping but will add in the freebee box for those who yet have nothing.

So we are on for our seed trade and scion wood trade for next Sunday afternoon at Holy Comforter! You will need to supply your own grafting root stock, but can also just come and learn how to graft if you are considering it for the future. We'll have seed trading, gardening fellowship, tours of the Holy C. garden and greenhouse if you are interested, Richard one of the Holy C. gardeners will demonstrate the "wintersown" method...and bring some snacks and hang out with some coffee or hot chocolate!!!

If you need it, we can demonstrate seed saving, seed packaging and we have a few free seed give aways, especially good for people to try wintersowing.  Feel free to ask both organic gardening and biodynamic gardening questions. May C. and I will be there from Holy Comforter and Frank from Tierra Sonrisa Garden. If you have very specific questions please bring photos if you feel you need to

Children are welcome with parental supervision, grafting is the only part that uses very sharp objects :)
