just spend the last 5 hours mowing & tearing out english ivy from our backyard....cutting down privet TREES (still have to dig out the rootballs), tearing out thorny vines that had grown up into the trees and were literally about 50 feet long each....

Good god, I'm tired.

You want a medal or something?

Agreed, LM.  I water around 6:30am on my designated days.  I am soaked because it is already 80 degrees by then.

nice, I'll give them a call when the time is upon us to replace the gutters. Hopefully sooner. Do you get  a referral or anything Insano?

Maybe.  Seems like there was some mention of that in the sales stuff.

lostman and iris, this is my favorite time in the yard.  everyday things are changing.  just doing what they were meant to do.  doing what God (sorry insano) made them to do.  i find very very exciting.

today i dumped some gray water on some new plants.  spent the rest of the day scratching the poison ivy i have all over my forearms and ankles.  toddler, you rock.

Today I went out at 7:30 in my PJs to turn on the soaker hose to the veggies and herbs. Then I went back to bed.
Later on watered all the potted plants, pulled a bunch of random weeds and picked up dog poop.
Mourned several of my Margie Jenkins Leucothoe that I thought were sun or shade but turn out to "prefer shade but will tolerate morning sun" and have fried in the afternoon.
Looked at pretty stuff blooming and noticed the monarda has just started to bloom.

Went out an watered all the veggies this morning.

Need another cup of coffee before I start cutting up and bagging all the privet & thorny vines that I cut down yesterday...oh, and other than the english ivy being gone, you can't really tell i did anything. I got maybe a third of it. Ugh.
"everything is coconut these days." in related news, she went birding in Sri Lanka and had some great coconut water there.

When you're finished in your yard can you come and cut down our privet tree? And dig out the stump (that's 3 feet high) from the last privet we cut down? We got kind of unmotivated and the stump is starting to grow again. Damn weeds.

Gasoline and a match, mellamur.
Oh, and beer.

Oh, and beer.

Yeah...that kind of goes against my "all organic in the yard" plan. Last I heard gasoline didn't fall into the organic category.

Just jokin.
I just wish I could make a fire and burn all this shit rather than cut/bag it.

blah blah debbie downer blah blah, i have to remind u that its against watering laws to use a soaker hose, blah blah, its not the most efficient way to water, a soaker hose is, and u're watering edibles, so it might be a bit more of a gray area, blah blah.

everyone sounds so exciting, i really need to get out and do some work this weekend.. I only mulched 1/2 of my hop bed, so its really fascinating to watch the amount & relative voracity of the bent grass weeds in my bed, to see how the mulch thinned them out on one side & without they're growing strong.

It's too hot for a fire anyway.
