Pink Compound Property Newton and Flat Shoals
« on: September 23, 2016, 09:00 am »
The tree people arrived this morning and are taking out all of the trees on the property EXCEPT for the beautiful oak on the very corner, which they are leaving. I would expect to see grading and foundation work to be soon for the 3 new craftsman-style homes being built there.

Good. Because it has been such an eyesore since Paradise Living came down that I was going to report them to code enforcement.

Update:
The trees have come down and hauled off, the 811 utilities have been marked and currently they are installing the silt fences. You can also get a pretty good idea of what the lots are going to look like from where the fences are. Progress!!!! :)%

I looked at the plans at 6:00 tonight, but have forgotten who it is. I will look again in the morning and will post builder's name.

I'm sure they are perfectly fine but boy I hate the word boutique
It doesn't take a committee.  It just takes one person.

In checking the detailed drawings attached to this sheet, the house on. He corner of Newton and Flat Shoals will be oriented as facing Newton. The garage is on the south end of the lot with the driveway opening on Flat Shoals. These will be two story he mes with porches.

Williams-Teusink LLC is a law firm in Decatur.  I am friends with one of the partners, Eric Teusink, who is a former EAV resident a past president of the East Atlanta Neighborhood Association. He now lives in Grant Park.  He is also a co-founder of  the "Run before you Crawl" 5K and pub crawl.  Great guy and excellent lawyer who cares very deeply about urban development issues intown. His law partner Kyle Williams ran for State Sentate against Elena Parent a couple of years ago, but lost in the primary.

If these guys are the lawyers, I am confident this is a quality developer who will do a good job building something appropriate for the neighborhood.

According to the drawings in the box for lot#1, the builders are:
"Oh. Uh, will you hold my wallet for me while I take the test, please? There's a thousand dollars in there... or maybe there isn't. Know what I mean?"

I have no opinion about lawyers and confidence in them, nor do I know any of these builders/lawyers personally.  However, building a house on the corner of Flat Shoals and Newton that faces Newton is not "appropriate" for the neighborhood.  I'm not saying it's catastrophic, I'm just saying it's not indicative/appropriate for East Atlanta.

I'm curious if the shared driveway still juts onto Flat Shoals.  That'll be a nice cluster f%^& if so.
