Permit help for outdoor structure
« on: August 03, 2017, 07:49 pm »
I am looking to have a pergola style carport built. I'd like to do it but I am not sure what I need permits for. I had a fence done when I first moved in and learned later that I should have pulled a permit for it.

If I do need a permit how do I get started on this process?

Thanks!

Do you live in the City of Atlanta or in Unincorporated DeKalb? (or somewhere else)

City of Atlanta

I went through the permits page and didn't see something that fit what I am trying to do. It isn't an addition to the house it is a free standing structure.

I also don't see where you are supposed to get the fence permit.

I was looking here, https://www.atlantaga.gov/government/departments/planning-community-development/office-of-buildings/permits .

Persephone, I just found this old thread.  No real answer, I guess, to your question.  I'm still searching, because I want to build a shed soon, too.
