Emerald City Bagels Opening in Gravity Pub Space
« on: June 15, 2016, 08:14 pm »
According to a June 15 Atlanta Magazine article, Emerald City Bagels has leased the vacant Gravity Pub space. They still need to install a grease trap and then will begin further renovations with a target opening of early 2017. I wonder why this tidbit of information was not shared by the EACA Development Chair last night?

Is this still going to happen?  It doesn't appear that any work has gone on inside that storefront.

My sources say yes. Devil is in the details. She hopes to open early next year.

I asked at the Piedmont Park market last week, and she said it was all tangled up in permits and things.

Apparently moreso than even they knew.  Did anyone else notice the giant "STOP WORK" sticker on the window yesterday?

Stop work orders were posted on both vacant store fronts. I imagine it's Paces Properties at fault.

Oddly they do have permits for the demo work they are doing. And they haven't been working in the space for a while.

I wonder if someone called it in, have to look. The permit is addressed for MSR and extended down the rest of the storefront addresses.

Is everyone inept at permitting or is it really that difficult.  These are brick rectangles...

I understand It's a grease trap problem that needs to be resolved before construction can start.

Last I heard they were going to tap into the one at the former MSR.
