Lorigami, you can't eat sausage?

I can't eat any meat at all anymore. I realize this is my problem, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating to realize how few options there are at my favorite restaurants. Seafood is ok in moderation, which is why I was hoping for a decent paella.

(side rant: I just recently discovered that at some of our EAMV restaurants, the black beans are not vegetarian. I thank HT for making the distinction and having some that are...)
sorry for the threadjack.

Well then even with a sub the HT paella is not for you.  The amount of seafood (not even counting the chicken and sausage) is most certainly not "in moderation"
And I'd always be cautious about Mexican style black beans.  They usually have some kind of port fat in them.

That's the biggest obstacle for me to becoming vegetarian, eating out.  Most places have very few options, everything has some meat sprinkled on it at least.  And they only give you one or two rather unappealing options.  But cooking at home, I have no problem making tasty meatless meals.  I think there is something in the American Consumers psyche that says they are not getting a good deal unless all their dishes have meat in them.

Stop eating them immediately. Your doctor wants you to be around to see those cute kids grow up. (And btw, I just noticed your avatar animation. Nice job.)

Compared to 20 years ago eating out is sooooooo much better today for veggie choices.  I have learned to find the dishes I like, and really patronize those places to show my support.
