So Ba is open NOW
« on: Dec 17, '09, 06:11 pm »
Just drove past the former La Casita. The Vietnamese place is OPEN. I was surprised, as I figured the Buzz would be buzzing w/ this news. Anyways, I actually walked in to make sure, and sure enough there were 4 servers standing there waiting for diners. I had the dogs in the car so couldn't sit right down, but will probably go back after awhile.

Pho'k yeah!

OOOH OOOH! I beat Dave, so I'm the first official buzz review!

<3 Grilled meats, so the smell in that entire parking lot is of beautiful grilled meat.  Delish.  Nathan and PJ got Bun, grilled meat and vermicelli, basically. 31 and 34s.. Greg got the Pho... I got #30, the Spicy Pork and Beef soup, which was under the Bun, so i didn't really know too much of what i was getting, other'n it was the Hue style.. Which excuse my ignorance, but no clue what that means, but just as a heads up, I loved the flavor, quite tasty, but there was blood aspic in it and a pigs foot.  So the flavor was awesome, but I got just a tiny been squeemed about the aspic.  I don't like them regardless, but let alone be made with blood, i know people eat it, blood pudding, etc.. but ::shudder:: i pushed that to the side.  The rest was yummy.  I didn't knaw on the pig foot.. Some nights I'm in the mood to be wild, and some nights I'm safe, I was not in a wild mood, so the OFFAL caught me by surprise! I'd get the pork n vermicelli like others had next time.  But i'd completely go back.  Great atmosphere.  Give the staff a few weeks to understand the clientel of EAV and the menu... I'd give my left nut for them to serve lamb, and go back every week!

Authentic food.  Nice flavor.  Attentive Owner.
Opening B+!

I had the noodle dish (Bun) that came with grilled pork and a chopped up egg roll, which was delicious. I ate every bite. Molly had a small order of the Pho with 3 different beef but no tendon or tripe. She was new to Pho but said she enjoyed it. The small is plenty big, btw.

I mentioned to the main dude that there were rumors that they'd be serving Banh Mi, and he seemed almost like he was taken aback and said "no, we're going to keep the menu very simple." I figured it best if I didn't ask about the other rumor at that moment - that they'd be serving dim sum brunch.

They made Heath sit by himself facing the kitchen. It appeared as though he was being punished for something. o%o

Q:How many buzzers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A:It's really not such a good idea to use lightbulbs. They're bad for the environment, and thieves can easily unscrew them.I'd get rid of them
