we had a Ferrell's at The Mall (this was in Louisville, so it was literally THE MALL--to differentiate, you were going to the other mall or The MALL mall) and it was the coolest place ever--it was upstairs and you could see through the window from the lower level and it always had pinwheels and all kinds of stuff in the window.  I know we went, but we never had nor attended a party there so no trough for us!

The Mall at Shelbyville Road? or was that Oxmoor?

I hated Farrell's as a kid. Way too noisy when there was a birthday but I did enjoy at the candy shop at the front.

that's hilarious.  when are the words "kids" and "noisy" NOT synonymous?

With all the awesome flavors Morelli's comes up with, I think it's worthwhile to give praise to how well they do traditional flavors as well. As I always describe the place to visitors - they do really interesting flavors, but if you go with something traditional it'll be the best you've ever had of that.

I had Butter Pecan on Monday and it was just fantastic. I've done their Pecan Praline, Cookies & Cream and I don't remember what else, but in every case it's been like I've never really had that flavor before. Just outstanding execution of those ice cream standards.

exactly how we feel about the coffee ice cream *:)*

thanks to Morelli's, my 4-year old daughter is now an ice cream snob.  she only gets the plain chocolate there, but now she doesn't like the plain chocolate from any store-bought container (except maybe for Edy's).

so now you can never leave.  it's FOR THE CHILDREN!!!!!

I never heard of Farrells before.  We had something close when I was a teen in Germany.  They made an ice cream pizza with lemon sherbert for the crust, raspberry sherbert for the sauce, shredded coconut for the cheese, various fruits for the toppings and a drizzle of strawberry syrup just because.  All spread out on a giant pizza pan.  Four of us used to get good and baked and then order one those.  Feeding Frenzy.

They finally called us back from White Provisions. Ive called about 3 times then i used kevin Gillespie's name and i finally got a call. I hated to use his name but i think the saying is who you know? but i think that would also be a great #2 or# 3 location.

But hell with all of these businesses closing (coffee shop in the plaza, village jerk, and now ace hardware im getting scared.

Are there enough residents in the area to sustain this type of business?  That corridor has several restaurants that draw lunch crowds, but it seems very quiet in the evenings.  However, Tech students are not very far away.

^^ without a doubt yes. that area is exploding with new condos/apts and restaurants bars all right there on howell mill and 10thish area, plus you have all the residential traffic from atlantic station and collier rd areas (even north of collier on howell/northside up into the south buckhead residential areas going towards peachtree battle would all drive down to morellis).  i would imagine once word got out over there about the morellis awesomeness the store would have a line longer than what is usually at this location.  more than just college students live over there on that side of town and the income demographic set is higher than this area.

OMG!  you lived in Louisville, too! when?  I was there 81-85!  I don't remember where it was located--I'd have to ask my parents since they were the ones doing the driving, they'd remember more likely.  I just remember THE MALL MALL  LOL   And yes...I don't remember being allowed to ever actually BUY anything at the candy shop, but remember being enamoured with it.  Small small world gets smaller! ;)

and i'm so in for the "chunky monkey"esque flavour.  what are you calling it?

Dear Mr. and Ms. Morelli.
THANK YOU so much for the multiple coffee flavors of your ice cream menu this week. My Cappucino with the sweet touch of cinnamon was heaven, but that Vietnamese Coffee gelato has surpassed my #1 favorite (for like 40 years) dark chocolate and orange flavor (Baskin Robbins). Your ice cream quality is of course way better than a chain, frankly I just liked that dark chocolate and creamy orange combination. But it pales in comparison to your super strong, amazingly authentically delicious gelato is now the flavor I do not think can ever be beaten.
Delicious.
Thank-you for your creativity, inventiveness and sheer desire to please your customers!

I had a salty Carmel today it was so delicious!! I also noticed how the costumer service has improved. They have a lot more friendly faces at the windows.
