I don't think it's dirty.  I like their chips and salsa and I stick to the 2 taco combo plate with rice and beans.  I never really stray from that so I can't speak of other dishes.

No Mas! Cantina in Castleberry Hill?  Anyone been?

I just got a groupon or some such for it, and we're looking forward to trying it out for the first time.

Been there quite a few times.  The drinks are strong, and the food tastes awesome after a few of them.  However, the food is less than average otherwise.

articles like this make me even more  glad to be vegetarian!  sad that the guy had a pre-existing condition that made him particularly suceptible, but even sadder  that people neglect food like this that gets served to others.  it never ceases to blow my mind.

I understand the point you're making, but contaminated vegetables are a significant source of food-borne illness too.

I would HIGHLY recommend their Steak Quesadilla. It is really good. Their Tres Leches cake is unreal. Marg's are really good. It's good food in a lovely setting.

sure, it happens, but if the news agencies are any measure, it's a whole lot less frequent.   seems we much more often hear about tainted ground meat (don't even get me started on that...the whole concept freaks me out), medications or hormones--it's just stuff you don't see so much with vegetables/grains, and then when you do, it's often things  that aren't cooked (like the deal with lettuce or spinach, i think, a few years ago) and just aren't properly washed

great patio, decently strong margaritas (last I was there - years ago now) and decent food.
It does underline my point about drinking large quantities of tequila when you are at mexican restaraunts of questionable quality (and face it, most of them/the fun ones are). Gotta get enough in you to kill the bugs in the food.  ;D

I'm going to have to disagree with you, many major foodborne illnesses outbreaks are from non-meat items.

from the CDC:

Among outbreaks caused by a single food vehicle, in 2006, the food commodities associated with the largest number of illnesses were poultry (21%), leafy vegetables (17%) and fruits or nuts (16%).

No Mas is great!  Make sure to use that groupon! (Though I think I got it recently through Scoutmob).

We went to BF last night too, because some friends were playing trivia.  They were pretty slammed.  I don't think it is the greatest place in the world - it's just a decent place to get Mexican in our neighborhood.  We would probably pick Mi Barrio if we really had a hankering for Mexican.  And I agree - LOVE Holy Taco to pieces, but yeah, it's more expensive.  That's because the food is a lot more creative and fancy and whatnot.

Next time you go to BF, get the chicken soup.  Best thing on their menu, hands down.

blue frog is the place you get cheap tacos, good chips, salsa, and cheese dip, even if you have to sit through their 90's rock and deal with the intermittent douchebags and inexperienced waiter.  i think most that go there are along these lines and if you're expecting more, you're likely to be disappointed.
i sure as hell am NOT ordering ceviche there.
