I used to go to the BF with my gf quite frequently (mainly because of the convenience) but after discovering matador, i have not been back to BF. When compared to Matador (or any other QUALITY mexican restaurant), the service, presentation, appearance, and over-all vibe and enthusiasm of the place and staff is seriously under par. I would really only recommend the joint if you want to sit at the bar, smoke (or inhale) some cigarettes, and have a margarita or two. If you want to sit down and eat and have a relaxed dining experience, I'd say go elsewhere.

I really like the Matador.  I personally do not like salty things, and I do not find it too salty as Shivers mentioned.  Just sayin...

I personally, have never had a bad experience there, so I'll be back.  If I don't like a restaurant, I don't keep going and complaining about it, I just don't go back.

I'll give everything most things three tries.  I tried three times, was beyond disappointed each time, so haven't been back in about 3 years.

In SoCal right now eating carne asada burritos from sparkling clean dives with smiling happy service. I like walking to dinner because that's why I live in EAV to begin with. Not sure why everyone is so willing to defend and put up with the dirty, surly and crappy food.

I am one to give support where support is due.  I am a service survey's toughest critic.  Bottom line we live in the Village, the atmosphere here is laid back, there are two places that come to mind who offer good customer service, Holy Taco and The Glenwood on most occassions. Blue Frog is mostly miss when it comes to service.  The Music thing DRIVES ME CRAZY too.  Now I do have to say one visit to SOBA and our service was great, but that was pre liqour lic.

With Matador over in Glenwood Park, this isn't a good time for poor execution by Blue Frog.

Because of this thread we had to go try Matador tonight for the first time.  Really enjoyed it.  Sometimes we are looking for the Tex-Mex combo dinner Mexican restaurant, and this place was very tasty.

However, in terms of cost we spent almost exactly the same amount of money at Matador as we do at HT less the chips.  So for us it is basically not a cheaper place to eat Mexican...just different style.
