Budding Pothole / Pottrench on Flat Shoals
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:25 am »
As I've driven to work in the dark for the past few weeks I couldn't understand why I couldn't miss a pothole on Flat Shoals (north/village bound) near Newton. As I drove on Flat Shoals in the light on Saturday I noticed that this pot "hole" seems to be more of developing trench in the road. How does one go about reporting this?

Is 404-POT-HOLE still in operation?

This is going to require some excavation of the underground piping that was installed in spring of 2010. The 90-degree connection for the line coming from Newton-W to Flat Shoals-N has failed and will have to be replaced.

Call channel 46 local news to report a pothole. They have a reporter that does that on the news.

CofA just showed up and are placing a plate over it until it can be repaired by the original contractor that laid the pipe in May of 2010.

Anyone want to start a pool for how long the plate will be there?  I'll guess May 1st (though if the work is being done by a contractor rather than CoA, I may be greatly overestimating).

Or what happens first - pothole gets fixed or the pedestrian crossing sign that got dragged down from the Village to the FS/Newton corner makes its way back up to where it belongs?

ha!  we noticed that last nite.  Amazing.  It's sitting there by the side of the road, looking all forlorn and pathetic.

The one on Metropolitan was there for at least two years.

There's supposed to be a crosswalk there too, which was apparently obliterated by the pipe contractor.
Sidewalk broken? Got run over? Want a bike lane? Curious about new transit projects in planning? Email me! transportation@eaca.net

Did you talk to them?  They had something down the manhole nearest the pothole.  I was hoping they were researching the underlying problem with the pipe causing the pothole.
