Flat Shoals Blocked at Glenwood This Morning

On my way to work this morning, it looked like the Water Department had Flat Shoals completely blocked between Stokeswood and Glenwood.  Since the work is being done on a holiday, I guess it must be pretty important.  I was just wondering if anyone knew the details.

There are two metal plates in the street at 529.  I guess they're doing repairs?

On my way to work this morning, it looked like the Water Department had Flat Shoals completely blocked between Stokeswood and Glenwood.  Since the work is being done on a holiday, I guess it must be pretty important something the city ignored until it got to a crisis point or maybe just a way to gin up some overtime like how trash trucks are out on Saturday nights.  I was just wondering if anyone knew the details.

Thanks Cap'n Ken, I *never* thought something like that would happen. 

It is still seems weird that they would need to block off the whole street for something just on the side.  But, street work never takes place logically anyway.  Every time I see a street resurfaced, I think of setting up a betting pool for how many days it will take before someone needs to cut into it.  I Midtown near my work, a fresh, new street seldom lasts more than two weeks.
