Service Line Warranties of America?
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:51 pm »
Has anyone else gotten the letter regarding some deal supposedly negotiated with City of Atlanta and SLWA to insure water and sewer lines? Its $46/year for water line, and $46/year for sewage line (the letter conveniently neglects to tell you if you want both inusred, you must purchase them both). I called to ask and got the hard sales pitch, so I have a feeling this is some sort of scam. anyone?

sounds like a fake.  I've gotten at least 10 letters in the past 2 years about my sewer lines.  if it aint broke, dont fix it.
Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise

There was actually a thread about this a month or two back and someone posted a link to the CofA website or something explaining it all so it seems to be somewhat legit, at least in the sense that CofA will be getting a kickback for them.

I got mine from CoA, but I'm a renter, so I'd be all "Suck it landlords."

When we possibly buy in January, I will probably get it, because I'd rather pay $100 oop up front than god knows how much when the thing inevitably busts.

As someone who paid $1200 for the water line, then $1200 to fix the sewer line, I thoroughly endorse this plan.  If only they offered it 2 years ago!   >:O

I live on the edge of Sandy Springs, just outside of Dunwoody, in the Spaulding/Jett Ferry area.  I bought this warranty when it first came out and am very satisfied.  The reason I bought it is that my water line broke and my son's and I had to lay in the mud to fix it, after a couple of trips to Home Depot.  I saw the condition of my water line and decided this would be $4 per month well spent.  The warranty company has now repaired my water line three (3) times.  The respond timely and have the plumbers get in touch in a reasonable time period.  I will keep on paying my $4 bucks a month.
