American Horror Story
« on: October 31, 2011, 02:30 pm »
Anyone else watching this one?

I sort of wanted to hate it due to the fact that it has Dylan McDermott in it, but the wife and I are keeping up with it and it's been pretty intriguing so far.  I like the backstories presented...the various owners down the chain.  None of the characters are likable, but I think that's the only way the story works.

We are watching it.  I'm slowly piecing things together in my head...

I've been hearing good things.  I'll queue it up but I have no idea who Dylan McDonald is.

We're watching.  It's worth it so far (I agree that the back stories are the best part) but my main criticism is that it's really like the greatest hits of horror films.  The other night we watched an episode and the husband and I actually both said, "Don't go down to the basement!"  I guess that's fun in sort of a campy way, but it's definitely not original.  We'll continue to watch.

The first episode scared my wife horribly and I thought I'd be watching alone for the rest of the season. Thankfully she decided to give it another shot and we are both enjoying it. Neither of us watch the opening credits though, those types of short shots of creepy things bother both of us.

Loving this show so far.  Really liking how everyone's past is coming back to haunt them, and how all the locals connections to the house are being revealed.  Jessica Lange's character is something else, want to see how Addie's ghost comes back now.  Do you think the Tate has always been the person in the black leather suit, or did he just know about it and 'borrow' it to scare Violet?  Just what will Vivien give birth to?  How will Larry (aka Russell Edgington from True Blood) turn things into a bigger mess for Ben?  Who called Vivien from Hayden's phone?  Was Hayden buried with her phone?

I am really enjoying this show. There's a lot of camp to temper the creepiness. I haven't seen most of the classic horror films it alludes to but it's fun to have them all pointed out. And I got so sick of Dylan McDermott by the end of The Practice that it's kind of nice seeing him get served week after week.

There's a fun recap blog at http://www.afterelton.com/tv/recaps/american-horror-story-104-hallowqueens-halloween-part-1. EW and WSJ have  good ones too. I have no idea why Television Without Pity hasn't stepped up.
what the crap?!

I LOVE this show.  I actually just started watching it today--watched the first three eps at work, and I'm about to watch the 4th one.  I wish there were more.

Someone told me they are airing all 4 eps plus the 5th tonight, so you might want to set it for record if you don't have them.

It is SO scary.  It's really excellent.

Not real clear on who or what Tate really is.  He obviously has a deep connection to the house.  There seems to be a very fuzzy line between the living and the dead here (as in the neighbor and Moira sub-plot).

One thing that bugs me...what kind of therapist would have his patients come to his house?  I mean...it seems like the worst possible move to mix the personal and professional, even without the supernatural element.

I believe Tate is Constantine's "perfect" son who died.

Oh, I guess the neighbors name is Constance, oops.

Anyway, who is the guy doing Constance?  I assumed he was a male prostitute, but he's still around in ep 4.

I don't think Addie is coming back. It looks like to be a ghost you have to die in the house. It looked like she had died before Constance could drag her to the yard.
