Watched "Winnebago Man" this past weekend (Netflix streaming) and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I remember seeing the footage that inspired the movie years ago, so it was fascinating to see someone go out of his way to delve into the history of the guy in the video and find out whatever happened to him since then.

Bobby Fischer Against the World Official Trailer

Fantastic documentary.  Fischer's genius is like on Good Will Hunting levels but he allowed himself to unwind spending too much time researching the fringe.  It eventually drove him insane.

Good doc!  I wanted to hear his rant about Wal Mart and Dick Cheney.  Here it is:

I <3 Darkon!!!  Seen it many times and showed it to others.  I love the 30 something guys living in their mothers basement working at Starbucks that really believe they are somehow 'knights' and brag to their kids about it!

Haven't seen either of these in a while, but "A Boy's Life" and "Waco:  Rules of Engagement" both stuck with me in different ways.

In a completely different genre, "Paris is Burning" and "Pageant" are also faves.
I used to be GBC.

Saw180deg South the other day on netflix.  Great.

That movie makes me want to pack up a few things and make for South America with the wife & little man.  We have family in Peru, so it ain't out of the realm of possibility...

Oh yeah, and 180deg South has to be one of my favorites.

I watched this one recently and enjoyed it. It's about the subculture of people who explore abandoned buildings, sewers, etc. as a hobby. A lot of them tend to be photographers, so part of the appeal is sneaking into off-limits places to take photographs. Some highlights were: an abandoned NASA rocket silo, the catacombs under Paris, an abandoned mental hospital is Scotland, and Xanadu (Home of the Future) in Orlando before it was demolished!

I have always been into exploring abandoned places, but never really gave it much thought that there are organized communities that do this (as in they have online forums where they trade info, pics, video, discuss safety precautions and codes of ethics, and have "stars" who are well-known in the community). If you're into visiting the old prison farm and the like, I think you'll like this one.
