It both is and isn't a surprise.  The biggest surprise is learning she was only 48.

I remember her in that episode of Silver Spoons when she played Dexter's love interest.  She would have been early 20s.  Seems like forever ago.

But, but....

Crack is cheap. Let's get one thing straight. She made too much money to spend it on crack. Crack is whack.

Too soon?

I just heard it on the local news! She was found dead at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, by a bodyguard. "I Will Always Love You" Whitney!!! I always bought her tapes when they came out. I am heartbroken.

I am watching the video tibute on MTV and in tears literally.  :'(  Despite her trouble history, she was an incredible powerful songtress.  I chose to remeber her at the top her game.  As a child of the 80's, not only was she a great beauty but she was and forever will be a legend and an icon with an amazing powerful voice second to none, in my opinion.  My heart goes out to her daughter, her mother, and her friends & family.  The world has lost a legend.  R.I.P. Whitney Houston.

Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise

She was such a wonderful singer.

I know it's too soon for some, but unfortunately it's too funny not to share, don't read on if it's too soon for you to see jokes:

The headline someone on Fark came up for on this story:

Whitney Houston beats Bobby Brown to death

She's been a sad joke the last 15 or so years. You can only blame Bobby to a point. She had all the resources available to turn her shit around and wasted it. It's not like she only took up crack last year and died suddenly. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
