H. Harper Station thoughts
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:49 pm »
Planning on going there tonight and use a 50% off Scout Mob deal before we go see NFN perform at Dad's Garage.

Any suggestions for libations and eats there?

I'm a fan of the bourbon cocktails and the Hot Brown sandwich.

You do NOT have to valet there! I've never used their valet service there and go pretty regularly.

Last time we were there for Sunday brunch there was no valet. Dunno if they got rid of it for dinner as well.

My suggestion is:

a) with drinks talk to your server. They are very good at matching your mood, wants and desires to a menu item.

b) with eats read the descriptions and go for something you find interesting. My view on the place is they put a lot of thought into what goes on the menu and sort of have objectives in mind for creating / recreating certain things. See what they have going on and apply that to your own interests.

Love me some H. Harper.

If you want to get in and out fast (or on time), skip the first night of their Scout Mob.  When it's busy the service is ridiculously slow.
Or maybe they're happy and content, living their little donut lives until the monstrous humans come along to rip their doughy flesh open with their teeth, sucking up their jelly innards.

Sad to say, I don't think the Hot Brown survived the menu changes.

If you want an actual Hot Brown, you (enduser) know where to go. I found H Harper's to be sort of OK, but not approaching true Hot Brownness.

Last time I had it was probably early summer so I'll be sad if it's gone but understand they've had a change in kitchen staff.  At one point they had a little smokies dish that I loved, loved, loved but it too disappeared.   I'll change my recommendation to anything with bacon.

Cap'n, Hot Browns are the food of my people and I know Harper Station's is in no way authentic but I liked their interpretation.

That's good to know. To be fair, I haven't been in quite some time.

If there were stinkeyes, I didn't notice them. It was fucking Sunday brunch at like noon. Who'd give an anti-kid attitude then?
