For the past week, I have 'no service' in my house at all.  When I go out back, it drops calls every few minutes.  When I'm away from the house, it's better, but still drops calls.  It also takes about thirty seconds to actually connect and start ringing when I do make a call.  I'm on the verge of smashing my iphone into a million pieces.  I'm over this shit.  Anybody else having worse than usual coverage?    :([ :([ :([ :([ :([ :([ >:O >:O >:O >:O

Always had bad AT&T service in my house, had to suck it up and get a cell phone booster - microcell is what At&T calls it.  You might be able to finangle a free one or reduced price, just keep on calling them with your outages and then after all those calls have been documented you can ask them about it and ask if they would sub you for some of it.  It's $159 new I think.  Works well, though.

I recently got a flyer from AT&T about a free Microcell.  You just had to return it if you left AT&T within two years.

I've been experiencing degraded service, too.  It seems to get worse over the weekends.  I suspect the additional people in the village from outside the area put a strain on our providers.

Me too.  At times I don't even have any bars.  Heading to the ATT store for my microcell this week as this is my business phone.

Yes, it's been bad.

At Cap'n Ken's suggestion I installed the "Mark My Spot" app which lets you bitch to AT&T about the coverage, which is tough to do when you have bad or no coverage... but it reports via wifi if available. So when it's been going bad, I report it, and a few minutes later, I've got three bars and a text message from AT&T saying "Thanks!"

Thanks for that.  And for BlackBerry AT&T users, I searched on the BlackBerry App World and found "AT&T Marks the Spot" which appears to be the same thing.  I'm downloading it so I can bitch every time I'm in the Village.

Typically four bars here at Braeburn Manor, most of the time.

My service has never been great, but it's been much worse over the past month or so, fluctuating wildly between one or two bars of 3G, one to three bars of EDGE, and no service at all. I was worried it was my phone (Captivate/Galaxy S), so I guess it's good to hear it's a systemic problem, which hopefully means AT&T can fix it.

We just started having this problem, too! Half the time, incoming calls won't make our phones ring- we just get a voicemail notification. Texts tend to go through, but there is just no service at our house. I have mixed feelings about the whole tower issue... but this came on within the last month which is very strange.

My service has always been crappy at home due to the fake-stone concrete overlay with the wire mesh on top of lap that was done back in the 40s. But lately, I barely get any signal and it drops without even blinking, and sitting in one spot on my desk I normally leave it goes from 3 to no bars a lot.

I have a feeling AT&T is reapportioning hardware, spectrum and signal reliability in its buildup for the LTE launch in Atlanta and 4 other cities shortly this summer, and existing service hiccups will be told to upgrade to the newest and greatest, cause naturally that will solve everything. Even as a tech pundit I'm rather irked by the sudden 'coincidence' in the service issues and upgrade announcements.

AT&T has had trucks working on the lines at Ormewood and Gracewood for weeks now it seems. We don't have phone service from them, but we do have dsl, which seems to be getting slower and s l o w e r, though I still hope for great things.

I'm also glad to hear that it's  not my phone.  The service is so bad that the majority of the people I call start the conversation by saying, 'I hate your phone!'

The voicemails popping up without the phone ever ringing  is the latest in the shitty service saga.

A customer service rep said she would give me a $20. credit.  I want more, damnit!  If my phone works about 50% of the time, shouldn't I only have to pay 50% of my bill?  That would be a $60. credit.  I'm gonna raise hell until I get it.
