Mi Barrio - They weren't that great and had iffy service 5 years ago. Everything around them has been redeveloped and still they persist.

Happy Donuts- Seriously? There are never any cars in this parking lot...ever...even at 8 am as cars drive through The Village.

Blimpie.

Jiffy Mart & Big H:  No explanation necessary.

That small strip center next to Hodgepodge on Moreland:  I can't remember what any of the businesses are and it amazes me that anyone even notices it when they are driving 55 on Moreland.

The tire place that used to be "Rubber Man"...the current name eludes me.

Buffalo China: I feel like I could get food poisoning just driving by the place.

The plus-size lingerie store, I think it's called Smoochies or something. I think I've seen someone walk out of there once in the five years. Wait, is it even still there?

Hey, I like Happy Doughnuts and Blimpie! Happy Doughnuts is basically a Dunkin' without the branding, after all.

I agree that neither *seems* to get much business, but that could be because they're both places where you get in and out pretty quick. How full is the parking lot at Checkers, Burger Win (which only has about 3 parking spaces anyway), or Delia's most of the time?

Obviously you're not a fan of Georgia Lottery Keno.

The signage is still there.  I've always assumed that businesses like that, the Jiffy Mart & Big H were fronts to launder money since they have disposable products and can claim many cash transaction.

But I'm probably just too suspicious.

Oh, wow. I completely disagree. YES, if you go during the usual hours when they are slammed service isn't that great because they are slammed! But the food has always been great, and they have some of the best Margaritas in SE-ATL.

If there wasn't something special about Mi Barrio then you're right - they would have closed a long time ago. But, they are obviously doing something right. If you go during dinner hours quite often you will be waiting for a table...

I've been to that little strip mall beside Hodgepodge and it has been INSANELY packed after work at like 6pm??? Smoochies gets some good business - I'm wondering if they also offer an internet based business? I've been in once or twice for a friend, and the store was packed with late teens-20 something ladies shopping up a storm! The Iffy Mart always has tons of cars coming in and out.
I'm a bit surprised that we always pick up more tax places and old ones seem to keep on going too...

Like Grouch, I've never paid much attention to those stores. On StreetView it looks like a laundromat, tax place, hair braiding shop and EBT/Cigarettes convenience store.

Perhaps most of us just aren't the target market for those places.

you've GOT to be kidding.  it is the best, authentic mexican restaurant around here.  i'm not of the mindset that just because everything around there has been developed, it needs to fall in line.  i like the place.  it's "charming" and the food and people are good.

Next to hodge podge is a little sote and a laundrymat.  The little store prob stays in business because of the laundry mat.
Blimpie- never been inside except once when i lived on gracewood and i wanted a coke.
Big H- used to go there all the time to play keno.  I live right around the corner and it was funny to do in college.
Happy Donuts- I've spent about 10 bucks a year there.
Smoochies- never been
mi Barrio- had to break up with them.  They are just too disgusting (look under the foil of your chip basket).  basic microwave mexican.
Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise

I go to Happy Donuts at least once a week on the way to work and there's always other customers in there.  I love Happy Donuts.

Mi Barrio??  Where's that.

but I guess Kirkwood doesn't really count as SE ATL.
