Speed hump smoothing on Ormewood and Woodland
« on: May 11, 2011, 03:12 pm »
The city's out today smoothing out those inconvenient bumps caused by the speed humps on Ormewood and Woodland. And they're repaving the streets as well. Hump opponents rejoice! Or maybe they'll leave it half repaved like Pendleton, which now has actual functional speed humps going west and nice smoothed ones coming east.

Yeah..you know, almost IMMEDIATELY after they finished installing the nice new humps on Ormewood between Woodland and Confederate, the city came back and tore into the roadway to do some utility work (gas line, I think). Now the right half of the eastbound lane is a patchwork concrete strip instead of the usual asphalt paving like the rest of Ormewood.  Just another example of government bureaucratic "left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing" mentality.

Nice!  Maybe I won't have to avoid Ormewood anymore going Gresham to Lyndale speeding past Hfranks house!   >:D

Umm...as far as I know, all the work going on is on the OP side of Moreland.  The city had trucks lined up all along Woodland yesterday afternoon and this morning.  I'm not aware of work on Ormewood, but it wouldn't really surprise me.  As soon as we get road improvements around here, some utility work becomes necessary and someone comes along to dig a hole, followed shortly by some half-assed patchwork.

The city doesn't do gas line utility work

(of course, the city can be blamed for not requiring whoever did the work to patch it up to spec...)

eh...whatever.  i don't care WHO did the work, only that it didn't appear to have been coordinated with the road improvements.

Cool!  I don't wanna have to slow down when I'm speeding to QT for my gas at 3am.

Probably smoothing the way for all that increased traffic from the QT.

Well, today crews were out adding asphalt to the top of the speed humps on Ormewood.  Looks like the smooth(er) ride is over, hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.
