At the house on the corner of Woodland and Ormewood, lightning struck a tree and it split in three places but did not fall and was hanging over the power lines. the lines caught the tree on fire and firemen had to wait until the tree limb fell before they could put it out or do anything. That is why the road was closed. It was quite exciting for about 2 minutes.

Yep. After it fell and quit smoking, the fire department left. About An hour or so later, Georgia Power came and cut the branches, just leaving them where the fell. Poor Drditzel and wife have to clean that mess up. Then Georgia Power left and we still had no power. Maybe 2 hours later power came back on. Weird day on Ormewood. I was amazed however at how completely self absorbed some of the walkers and runners are on my street. So you see a huge firetruck in the road with firemen standing around obviously focused on an area in front of them; there is caution tape cutting off access to Woodland and a tree burning in the middle of the road. What do you do? Well keep on running/walking right into danger that's what. Take the ipod off folks and tune in to your surroundings. At least 4 people nearly ran smack dab in the middle of a burning tree while simultaneously ignoring the shouts of firemen and neighbors to look out. Naturally they would have sued the city if they got hurt 'cause well it couldn't have been their fault. >:O

They were probably experiencing a runner's high and couldn't actually see the police tape and fire trucks.  ???

That's more like it; I vote for oblivious buffoons or people that suffer from "that's not my problem" syndrome.

Some nimrod was standing in the middle of Brownwood Thursday as I was riding my bike. He was yapping on his phone and didn't even look up. Good think I wasn't a car, he'd have been creamed.

Worst of all, after swerving around him, and his  :(~ look, he continued to stand in the middle of the road and yap on the phone.

People mystify me.

Off topic: Speaking of Brownwood...last time I drove it (Saturday) there was a stream of water coming from underneath the pavement on the block just south of Glenwood.  I like to assume someone up there called the city to have the water line repaired...but it's obvious from the last time that happened near my house that a call isn't always made because others just assume someone else took care of it.
