Thanks for the advice.  We've been using Armor for pretty much the last few years and it's only recently that we've needed anything major done.  I think a lot of our discomfort came from the impression that they weren't really getting ahead of the problems or offering any indication that we'd be able to close our wallet any time soon.  I'll get this round of problems buttoned up and then look to Ride-on for future work.

Travis at the shop next to the old ace/ village fitness is rad.  They are legit as of the first of the year and should be able to take credit cards and have a tax status and everything.  They work on my Honda and all 3 guys there are awesome.

Also ride-on was great to me several times in the past.

Um ... what were they before?

Are you sure that's the same guys? I seem to recall some changes in the look/vibe of that place since 2009.

Error codes do tend to show up in-line like that.  I don't know exactly why, but I've had personal experience with that working on my own vehicles.
Could it just be that the engine light can only show one error code at a time, so if multiple things break at once it has to show first one and then the next?

Check engine light will come on whether there is 1 thing wrong or a hundred.  The computer that reads it will show all codes reporting at once.  I recently had a gasket go and I got 4 error codes when I checked, 1 code for each cylinder.  When I cleared the codes, all 4 codes would come back at the same time and my reader would show all of them.

See, that's what I heard.  That's why I was suspicious of a new code popping up every time the old code was cleared.  And, for the record I currently have two codes (via Autozone) although they both seem to have something to do with the timing belt.

they did some decent repair work on my wife's car after she got rear ended and at a fair price, i guess (never did much shopping around)

my only complaint was that there was paint over spray on all the windows-not a big deal, easily removed with a razor blade and some time-but gave me a little concern if they did not bother to paper off areas that should not have paint on it, what about what I can't see?  i am not a mechanic, but anytime I have shot a painter working on a job, shit gets taped and papered like no ones biz.

it bothered me more than Liz, she didn't even notice it.

not a glowing recommendation, but not a place I would avoid either.
