Holistic Dog Training
« on: December 15, 2011, 01:33 pm »
Hi folks! I just found this great forum and I want to introduce myself and my business :)

My name is Sarah Clark and I am a Holistic Dog Trainer!

For 10+ years I have been professionally involved in all sorts of doggie business like training, grooming, pet sitting, boarding, breeders, rescues,  nutrition, retail, you name it! Although behavior modification and training is where my heart lies, I integrate all of my knowledge of canine health and happiness into my practice.

My goal with every dog-human partnership I work with is to give you the tools you need to establish an open communication between you and your dog so you guys can finally speak each other's language, resulting in a deep bond and harmonious home!

I am so excited to be involved in the EAV community and I would love to hear from you! Any questions, concerns, thoughts or funny jokes you have, get at me! My e-mail is sclarknmt@gmail.com

Cheers!

What is the difference in holistic dog training and dog training in general?
Yes, I agree, with that I knew someone close that smoked and went to chewing tobacca. Used a spit can which was yuck, and then the door of his car.~Denise

Pot brownies instead of liver treats?

Hi Mr Man!

Traditional vs. Holistic dog training approaches can be compared to Traditional vs. Holistic human medicine.

Traditional approaches involve hearing the symptoms and treating them (dog pulls = prong collar. Headache = tylenol.)
Holistic approaches look at the big picture to find the cause of the problem. Dog pulls because we have unwittingly taught the dog to do so, so we need to rewire our habits to resolve the problem. Headache is there because of stress, therefor we need to find a way to reduce stress to prevent future headaches.

What I do is hear that your dog pulls and with all other information you give me make out a game plan. So not only will I teach you traditional methods to stop the pulling, but will also show you not-so-obvious solutions to the problem. The dog pulls your arm out of the socket because he is SO BORED all day long at home, which turns him into a giddy maniac on the leash, therefor to help with pulling, the dog needs lots of mental stimulation at home all day.

Does that make sense?
Holistic is looking at he big picture to find a solution to the SOURCE not just the problem. :)

Yep, I have worked with a few Bluetick and one Redbone.

I figured I'd put my website here too, not sure why I forgot that one!
