Village Carpentry YAY
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:45 pm »
Just wanted to thank Kevin of Village Carpentry.
He was kind enough to stop by the house and solve my faucet problem, for him is was a quick and easy fix.  All of 5 mins.  For me it would have been a trip to Lowes, a $60 faucet and a few hours of frustration and busted knuckles.

And the bonus, he did it out of the kindness of his heart.  He has done fine work for me before and I thank him for it.  He is lucky I am as handy as a one armed man with nothing but thumbs.

So if you need a guy, he is the man.
Plus he is a neighbor, fair and good at what he does.

Thank you Kevy Duty

I thought I would hear from him in my other post on this, but maybe this one got his attention more:

Can you fix my garbage disposal?  It is dead.  Completely.  Don't know how comfortable you are with electrical stuff, or if this even is an electrical problem.

My neighbor needs to speak to Kevvy Duty too. She needs a simple, but custom shelf piece built.  I told her I knew the guy.
I need another small shelf built too.

Thank you both and extra thanks to both of you for giving my new full-time helper a chance to get out of the truck to scope out the situation too!

LClayton, I'd be happy to come have a look, I've had success with dead disposals before, there's a few fixes we can look at.  PM with a good time and we'll get together.

FL, I'm busy right around the corner from you this whole week, let me know when you and your neighbor will be home and I'll come by.

have you tried the reset button? I was amazed that Keith didn't know a reset button existed and I "fixed" his garbage disposal by using it. One and only time I will ever know more about house stuff than a dude. haha.

After all the car and and house crap happened to me a few weeks ago, our fridge and stove mysteriously stopped working and he was able to bring it back to life!

A bump on this post.

I was working on installing one of these neato devices: http://fastmac.com/usocket and hit a dead-end when I found my very old wall box wouldn't accomodate the girth and depth of that thing. Newer standard ones will, but old house accoutrements tend to be a little more finicky.

For an affordable price and a quick turnaround time, Kevin removed the old wall box, installed the new one, and made sure the U-socket was working, all without damaging my old and ornery wall.

Awesomely done.

Thank you, I know you are enjoying your gadgety outlets.  Just let me know when you figure out where we should put the other one.

I want to thank everyone again for their post-project posts.  I hadn't said it yet regarding 2010, but once again, word of mouth and recommendations generated from my connection to this site have easily accounted for 90% of the business that Village Carpentry gets.  I really do appreciate that.

I want to weigh in on the positive experiences.  Kevy is fixing a bunch of things with my house before we put it on the market.  I figured it would take a few weeks to get it all done.  It took a few days.

We are very pleased with the results.

The Buzz and the fact that there are so many asshats in the 'hood who like to tear up doors and windows to get into our houses.  ::)

We have a very nice sliding glass door, installed quickly and professionally by Village Carpentry on very short notice.

Oh, Kevy - I need you to come and fix the front window. I broke the string with the weight on it and it's stuck inside. I screwed up the look of the woodwork when I spackled with bondo (it was a nessessity). When you get time, please fix my mess. Thank-you!!
