FYI, I anticipated all of you being of no use to actually answer my question, so I also followed up with the listed contact at Wesley this morning. I received a reply that the lottery will be held at 10 a.m. on March 5 (this is the Primary Zone lottery) at the school and one can ask for the specific location in the office that morning.

Not quite the overt notification of when and where as promised in the charter, but it does appear to be public (if you ask).

Colbert would call it "publicish".

In my definition of a lottery I can't understand why certain info that is being asked for on the app is necessary prior to enrolling.  By the questions being asked it makes me think it isn't really a lottery at all.

In the case of Wesley (the only 2012 application in process right now and thus what I assume you're referring to), it looks like they take what seems like the lazy approach of just asking for everything required to enroll without considering that this isn't actually enrollment. Perhaps that's a strategy to ensure that people applying are serious enough to do some legwork?

Maybe if you win it saves you and them from having to process another form?

Except the immunization / medical forms are only good for 30 days, so those will have to be re-submitted. And we're talking about seven months before enrollment, so it's pretty conceivable that a fair amount of information will change.

I imagine they will keep everything we're submitting in the manila folder they put it in and only move it to an enrolled student system upon acceptance and enrollment. And they just might ask for updated forms at that time ...

I hope that is the case.

I don't remember having to submit new medical forms. I'm almost positive the rule is within 30 days of applying (so although my kids were just at the dentist, i have to wait until Feb to get the forms filled out for the March enrollment period for existing students.  No, I'm not annoyed.).

I don't recall having to resubmit any forms to Wesley after the initial forms were submitted. However, this was this was the first year of the school so procedures may have changed for the initial application.
