General Contractor Recommendations?
« on: December 20, 2011, 09:26 am »
My humble abode needs some significant help

- sewer line repair/replacement (could perhaps require driveway removal/replacement)
- soffit and wood replacement
- internal plumbing repair
- interior ceiling repair
- window replacement (thanks to the asshats who broke in some time ago)
- possible hot water heater replacement

I've proven to be an unfit homeowner and have come to the realization that all of these jobs need to be tackled with the help of a trained professional. If you can recommend a licensed, honest general contractor who can help me get these jobs done (perhaps in a twelve-month timeframe) I'd really appreciated it.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Plumbing: Martine - 678 255 6915 - he and his brothers and cousins have a great business, and did super work at Holy Comforter in our kitchen putting in a small grease trap. Took them days to dig up the cement and replace it all nicely and they did not charge us a single extra cent for the extra work.
Rick of Affordable Plumbing did our renovation plumbing and will probably be doing some more work for us. He also has all the machines to do bigger plumbing jobs like tunneling under cement: http://www.serviceatlanta.net/theaffordableplumberatlantaga/   I also use him at Holy Comforter if need be, he's fixed the botched work of others, too.

General Contractor: Simon Reynolds of Reynovations - he lives in the area, and has renovated several homes in the area. Everyone I know (and that is probably about 20-30 people) who have used him from smaller jobs to one like ours (pretty much whole house) has been very very pleased with his work. (404) 580-6730
If he doesn't get back to you immediately or seems to "drop" the ball please keep on him. Simon gets very involved with each client and only sees one client at a time. He has your undevoted attention so when he gets calls for new work, sometimes he just forgets to get back to you. It's not he doesn't want the work, he is just so focused!

GC - Gary Gilbert at CFYC - he's a Reynoldstown guy and we cannot say enough nice things about him and his crew - they took the roof of our house & did the whole buildout despite the fact taht I was abotu to pop out a baby any minute.  Fast, honest & solid work - couldn't be happier.

+1 I have used Martin also and they do great work, they also do flooring and drywall, which is a bonus if you need demo renovation!
