Thank Bunni. Just looking to fix a couple surprises we found in the renovation...

Construction on this house on the corner of Stokeswood and Ormewood has resumed. when we went by, they had finished demolition on the old  back porch and the roof of the side porch, and already reframed and sheathed a new rear addition.  The owners of this house (ParcLife Homes) were out on friday afternoon as I was walking my dog, so we stopped to talk with them about it. The plans look pretty nice, and they were hopeful to have everything completed and the house on the market by March 1.

He also told me they recently purchased the green brick house directly across Ormewood (where the former owner tore off part of front and side facade for no apparent reason, and then just left a huge pile of bricks in the yard) and plan to do a full renovation and flip it as well.

Same deal with a house on Stokeswood, just south of Ormewood, next door to the home daycare center on the corner.  I saw a crew of guys tearing down the old house (it had a giant hole in the roof and front from where a tree fell on it) and they have already framed up and put the sheathing on the new house.  Look like it will be pretty nice.

Yeah, I was happy to see them back out as well. And glad to hear about the house across the street. Weird situation there - definitely looked like the guy was doing some big rehab; then it stopped; then he was gone.

Huzzah for residential investment activity in the 'hood!

The house next to us is undergoing a massive renovation. It was vacant and starting to crumble, so I'm glad to see it being redone. But I haven't seen any sign of a permit, which makes me a little uncomfortable.

Oh yay for this!  we saw the work on the original corner continue recently and were happy to see that but then commented on the one across Ormewood being crappy.
What about the new build across the street from the presently being worked on one?  What do you think about the construction?  I think it is better than an empty lot, but I am not loving the way it looks.  I dislike the garage and it doesn't really fit in with the neighborhood.
But, other than that, I think things are really progressing nicely around here!  all of the renos look very nice aesthetically.

That new construction has a definite modern vibe without being too-too much.  Yes, it doesn't look like anything else in the neighborhood and I like that.

There are also full renovations happening south of Ormewood on the UniD side, two of them on Stokeswood between Oakfield and Greenleaf.

I'm not usually one to be up in arms about construction varying from the established norm.  However, this one feels plastic to me... no soul.   :-\

whoa, that is crazy.

I don't know what it is about this particular house, it seems too big for the lot, and takes up the entire front yard and feels very close to the street.  and it's so tall.  I don't know, maybe after they put in some landscaping I will feel differently?

You have to get permits through the city even to tear down an old house. They come out and measure the house even. So, yes everything has to have a permit by the city to do anything.

"ParcLife Homes had been eyeballing this property for a year and it once looked so bad that it was even in the East Atlanta Patch as a property of concern for the neighborhood."

This house was a concern on the Buzz years before the Patch.

And of course the Buzz and Buzzers were keeping tabs on neighborhood things long before Patch existed.
