//jack//. I always wanted to open a bar in the old firehouse called the Firestation and have scantily clad hot waitresses and the fire pole as a stripper pole and serve drinks with names like "The Inferno" and have awesome hot wings.  Fantastic marketing strategy as I am shunned by the community for crapping up EAv.  ;D

Your marketing strategy would have to include plastic signs on telephone poles to be fantastic

Your tour guide sounds annoying!!   |@|. I'd hope for good fish and chips, simple, good salmon, haddock, cottage pies, mussels, oysters, lamb and the like. I hope they don't crap it up with the Americanized idea of UK and Irish food.

Dsnation, agreed. Fado is a stink bomb of a place.

No one is allowed to mock Scottish food until you've been or lived there!  Mellamur and her husband told me after their visit that it was some of the best food they've ever had!  I will never eat salmon, lamb, scallops, oysters or beef again in Atlanta after living there for the year!  And deep fried Mars Bars started in Stonehaven down the road from me and they rock in a horrible, hot chocolate chip cookie kind of way!  *fisticuffs!!*.  ;D

I know a few of the bartenders to be and they're awesome. I agree with you totally on the Fado vibe, though. I'm hoping traditional pub style with good simple food, cosy nooks and a decent selection of beers. That's all a good pub really needs.

My husband is a hooligan!  Yay!  *more fisticuffs!!*
What? Food in Scotland was crap, I tell you! Who likes fresh sea critters right out of the water, served on an octopus plate on a bed of seaweed? Or tasty cullen skink? Oh, alright. I guess the food was ok  ::) but the weather? Meh.  :-*

*note: Scotland is quite lovely. The weather is fabulous, the tour guides are perky and easily swayed to pause touring and pop into a pub. When said tour guide manages to pull visitors out of pubs to see the sights you might run into a seal, a castle, some catacombs or a room of mirrors.

My only question is will the bartenders and waitresses be dressed like this?

It's a trend I've seen in pub themed restaurants lately.

Nah, needs more tattoos to fit in the village.

Tats are fine, I was just commenting on the outfit.

Just walked by the place on the way to get dog food and there is a whole lot of activity going on! The tarps are finally gone and you can see the inside of the place, not to mention that they just got done hanging up the sign. Spoke to one of the guys and they said that they are opening up on Monday!

After eating Thai we went next door to check out the place. It is an amazing transformation. The place looks great. It has to be the nicest place in EAV now easily. The builder gave us a little run down on what all they did. He said Monday night is the soft opening. Can't wati to get in there an try it out.

Hearing nothing but raves so far... I'm going to have to try this place out.

Smoky? This place sounds like it could keep us from driving past the village on our way to Decatur pubs.

Yes, we asked last night and it is no smoking in all interior spaces. There was nary an ashtray to be found in the place.  They said they will allow smoking on the patio when the garage doors are up, but that the sliding door separating the patio from the inside will remain closed so the smoke doesn't drift inside

I heard it was no smoking. Can anyone confirm that?
