I'm a little fuzzy on the conversions so correct me if I'm wrong.  Assuming you get a good pour at a pub around the village in a pint glass with no head that fills the glass to the tippy top you have 16oz.  That's not uncommon either to have my glass filled to the brim with no foam.  So with imperial pints you have 1.2 to every US pint right so it equals out to 19.2oz (US) pour assuming no head?  Not 16 and 13.  Unless of course the pour sucks and is taking up 20% of your beer with head.  And they would have to fill an imperial pint glass to the brim as well.

Proper pints are a full 20oz. 568ml, according to what was written on the side of the milk bottles delivered every morning (some time ago, admittedly - but it probably hasn't changed).

Plenty of bars serving 'mini-pints' for higher abv beer. My local, Six Feet Under is particularly bad at this practice now. Quite the rip off, it is.

Others mentioned Sweetwater IPA being a good go-to tap. I agree 100%. A much underrated beer. Probably our best true local. Personally, I think Terrapin is a better brewery. Although, they do come up with some daft concoctions from time to time.

Looking forward to trying out Elder Tree.

I was gonna call BS on this, but apparently it's true.  Imperial pints FTW!

(Also - I think a lot of "pint" glasses are more 12 oz than 16.  Based on bottles of beer I've poured into "pint" glasses, it's rare that there's room for another 4 ounces, even if you fill to the "tippy top.")

Well-put.  I don't want to have it all the time, but absent anything particularly appealing, it's a good local beer that you shouldn't have to pay too much for.

The italian meatball sliders at Cypress are AMAZING...   Great spot if you're in midtown.

Indeed. I still have 3 of the 4 I smuggled back with me from Camden pubs from my summer in London in the late 90's.  ;D
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity but they've always worked for me.

I was PMing with Sandcrab about this and they did a test at home where they reached overflow in their EABF pint glass at 15.5oz.  With an imperial pint, unless my math is wrong, it should reach overflow at 19.2oz.  I would be curious to see how much of a pour you actually get but I'm certainly happy that even if you get a meh pour with 20% foam you should still even out at about 16oz which is still more than what you would normally get anywhere else.

That's how much I feel a good local brew should cost on at least one of their beers.  If the Elder Tree had $3 pints of Sweetwater IPA as their cheap tap as opposed to $3.50 Yuengling I would be all over that.  All day, erryday.

It took me a while to remember the difference between British imperial pints and American pints. After a few, that 4 ounces makes a surprising difference. I thought I was becoming a lightweight.  |@|

....would love to see a deeper UK beer list.

It's supposed to be an Irish pub, no?
