Gravity
« on: September 02, 2011, 09:21 am »
Went to the Gravity last night, first time in about a year. Is everything ok there? It seems a shadow of it's former self.

I was there too, sitting at the bar.  We watched 3 DVDs of Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special .

I made the mistake of ordering food.  Not recommended.

DUDE!

James, did you eat?  They have the best bar food in EAV now, IMO, and I am a staunch Flatironist.

tatumc, what did you get?

Last time I went in there, there weren't many people, BUT I was in there at 5PM, looking for eats.

Oh, also can you explain more re: the shadow thing?  Like were there just not many people?

New ownership.  I was going to the "Brews, Blues, & BBQ" for a while until they discontinued that.  Only had food once or twice, and it was decent when I had it.

It was recently sold.

I still want to know how they're having shows there, as of last check that space wasn't kosher for live entertainment.

They've had a number of shows on the raised area (I hesitate to call it a stage) at the back of the bar.  Also, at least one show in the basement.

This is not doing anything to make me want to listen to your food recommendations.  :P

That said, I am a big fan of the food at Gravity, what I've had, anyway.

Maybe I'll give it another shot. It was about 10pm and looked like they were in the middle of renovations. Had a boom box playing instead of the juke box. I miss the pinball machine, no idea why they would take it out to leave that dark corner. It felt like 10 min after closing time. If they were watching the Simpsons or whatver my question would be why? Most people don't come out to a pub to listed to tinny music from a small stereo mixed in with chatter from a tv. We would have been good for at least 3 rounds, but left after just one.  :(~

My husband says the atmosphere in there is like hanging out in your drug dealers basement.

I agree, but that's ok with me.  I have watched some of the best/worst horror movies in there...

@angryuser, I don't EAT at flatiron HAHAHAHAH! I'd like to stay alive, thanks!  I figure the liquor kills the germs.  Though I will say, there is nothing better than eating flatiron fries while drunk as shit.

On that note, actually, "Never have I ever..." eaten at Flatiron sober....JUST SAYIN!

First off, the current menu was printed on a piece of paper with a note saying to bear with them while they develop a real one.  It had maybe 6 things on it, 4 of which were burgers of some sort, wings and maybe something else.

I ordered a burger (medium) with cheese only.  It came with a side of "home-sliced chips", which were way over cooked and tasted like salted burnt grease.  My burger came out closer to well done and didn't taste like it was seasoned at all.  Totally not worth $7.

We had a good time though, shooting the shit with Slim and watching Midnight Special.

Bingo.

I thought I was 5 min into an episode of Bar Rescue and John Taffer was about to come in and start kicking ass.

I'm confused.  Has it sold again?  Because we went  in July and the menu was like 3 pages of awesome.  A few weeks ago, didn't ask for the menu, just got cheesesteak, one whiz with. NOM.   And also the chips, which I think are excellent.
