Sounds like they are doing the right thing, what on earth is the problem with it?

Did Fox 5 have a different crew doing the reporting and the stand-up? Story is about the Grant Park location, but they set up the live shot in East Atlanta. That's some attention to detail right there.

And coincidence that the Grant Park location is across the street from Dakota Blue? Perhaps something about parents in Grant Park?

I watched, and thought they came across as totally sane and nice and pro.

But yeah, it was weird that they shot in both locations.

I actually have no problem with the reasoning and my wife and I have always opted to take out kid outside if it gets to that point.  More folks ought to be that way, honestly.

Story doesn't really help their image, though.  The owner sort of came off as an ass.

This must be more of a problem at the other location in Grant Park.  Can't say I have ever really noticed out-of-control kids in the EAV spot.

I thought it was interesting that the menu just mentions "crying" kids. Seems like a specific sub-set of "unruly", which seems like the actual issue. Maybe he had a particularly bad experience with some crying kid.

The Grant Park location is a whole lot smaller than the East Atlanta one. At the EAV shop you might not notice some running-wild brat if they're at the other end of the place. If some Grant Park parents are conditioned to believe their kids should run free in their neighborhood's restaurants and the space is small - really amplifies the problem.

The comments are crazy.  Pleasegodletmenever see this woman and her kids at a local restaurant -

"Atlanta Owner Ok i teach kids and spent 5 years working with kids under 5 and you cant control them you can work with them but when they throw a fit or get tired they have no control yet so for those who say your kid is well behaved you must of threatened them to death or scared em to death or lets just say the kids who i know who are well behaved had been sheltered and not allowed to be kids in general, kids cry and it takes them a minute to calm down and just fyi most big restaurant chains make money from families you dont like the noise go to five star cost you life savings to eat but a kid is gonna cry its life for those so against a crying child just a reminder you were once a cry baby as well, no such thins as a perfect child, and yes if your child cries for long time or fits for long time do take them to bathroom or walk to help them calm down, and also as a parent and person who lives around kids of special needs its life for us and to go out to eat is a blessing and yes the kids are not gonna be as easily controlable cause they honestly cant, and by the way no true autisitc kid is perfect and easy to calm down but they deserve to be around other people and to eat out and no they arent goin to sit still or be quiet they have rights as well, now those who have bad kids in general and let their kids do what they want then yeah they need to step outside or leave :( just sayn"
Or maybe they're happy and content, living their little donut lives until the monstrous humans come along to rip their doughy flesh open with their teeth, sucking up their jelly innards.

By far the most troubling aspect of that comment.

Wow, I long for the days when parents controlled their kids not the other way around. I was allowed to go out to eat with my parents and I had better keep my yap shut. Crying and throwing a fit would have resulted in me going to the bathroom and getting a spanking. However, when you control your kids at home, this kind of stuff does not happen. My parents taught me right away to be respectful and say yes sir and yes mam. I remember that lesson as early at 2 yrs. old. People are just lazy parents. I think it is completely rude for you to let you kid run around a restaurant while people are eating. You had them, you teach them manners, you control them. It's not my job, the restaurants job, the schools job or anyone elses but yours. You can't teach your kids manners and respect then stay at home with the little monsters and suffer what you created.
By the way, I do like kids, but I will not put up with any crap from rude brats. I only give babies under 2 a pass in the behavior dept and crying. Your kid is not the center of my universe.

I used to work at GC in GP. Some parents totally suck. We had kids using the booth chairs as trampolines, climbing on the tables, and running amok in the entire restaurant. How a parent can allow that when there's folks trying to navigate with searing plates of melted cheese and hot sauce is beyond me. The best part is when you call them on it that act offended. The only story here is why are some parents so fucking dumb that GC actually HAS to make this a written policy.

I applaud them for this.  It's unfortunate the restaurant has to parent-by-proxy.  They aren't banning anyone, they are telling parents to get their screaming or unsupervised kids out of the restaurant until such time that they can get them under control.

The two places are TOTALLY different.  I think the main reason is that the EAV location has video games, and parents can sit in the booths right nearby, so people sort themselves out accordingly.  We always sit in back by the games and the door and it is the single most relaxing dining experience for this reason.

I didn't really think he came across like an ass.  He told a story about a kid throwing a toy and hitting a customer.  That's just completely and totally unacceptable.

ANd yeah, I'm with Grouchy. IMHO this is a rule of living on the planet.  If you go to a public place and your kid or your dog or your senile Gramma is disturbing the PUBLIC, you get the hell out.  Not because the kid/dog/Gramma is evil or terrible, but because it's polite to do so.
