Not including this place, I saw 3 for rent signs in the block between Glenwood and the EARL today. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but we need a landlord who rents to viable businesses, not just taking cash from whoever gets entitlement business grants and has no clue about what might actually be successful in the long term.
I get what you are saying, but would seem pretty hard to own buildings that need to be leased yet turn down money from somebody wishing to start a business. Doesn't everybody have to right to have the chance to succeed...or fail? I think they are many other things he could do that would help viable businesses actually have a chance for survival.
I know for a fact that several people have tried to open businesses in the Village and have either been unable to get calls back about spaces for rent, or the "rent" was so astronomically high that there was simply no way any legitimate business could operate there for any length of time. Frankly, I think he's got a nice scam going.
Yeah, I think Abe runs a scam where he lured under-capitalized businesses in with promises of cheap rent - then they discover the roof leaks, etc. and he won't address the problems. He takes what he can in their rent; they move out and he signs somebody new.
For all the bad things you can say about IPP, in their leasing activities they appeared to actually care about signing viable businesses.
