I have noticed that "Whole Foods" prices have gone up. So, I am buying more at Kroger and Publix. I try to find what organic produce they carry.

I wish we were <insert obligatory adjective here> enough to eat "all" organic and shop at Whole Foods.   :'(

Yeah, I hate to say it but organic is much harder as an economically viable option once your kids start eating like adults.  I might have been able to do organic when they were smaller, but not now.  The only thing I try to do organic is dairy products.  I can't afford anything else!

One thing people may be able to do is stick to things that less likely to be sprayed. There are not guarantee of course, but there are choices you can do to minimize exposure.  This not addressing the soil consern, but if pestiside and fungicide exposure is what you worried about, try this:

Instead of peaches and apples, try more figs, blueberries, maybe pears, persimmons, raspberries/blackberries and nuts. Or if you do buy other more commercial fruit, try peeling them first.

Veggies maybe a little more difficult, but getting green and tomatoes at the local famers market always good.
Try more root veggies from the store and winter squashes. Others may have better suggestion...

Ran into one of the owners of Slush yesterday.  He says they are selling and looking to move to midtown/westside.  Not much of a surprise there, but thought I would pass it along.

Is there a for sale sign up there?  If so, then I guess this is really old news.

Me too, and therein lies a good part of the problem. Social networking anyone? Have a booth at the EAV Farmer's Market? I'm just sayin... Not going to go if I don't know they're open.

Slush didn't last too long, like two years. I wonder who will take their place?

Ironically, after reading this thread bump yesterday I went to pick up Lil Dayz at school and we went to the Village to plaster pozz's little posters for his slot playing at Strut (4:30 PM on 99x stage, just saying), and she was BEGGING to go there (it's her absolute fav place in the Village) but door locked.  I think it's done.

Sad, cause the entire fam liked chillin on the big humongo lounge area on a hot day with a smoothie.  However the unemployed can only indulge in such things very sparingly  :'(

exactly. i thought they had been closed for a year or so. no regular presence on the buzz, no farmers market booth...the list goes on.  just basic level marketing.  if they arent going to do that then they need to be somewhere that has a constant heavy source of people just walking by the storefront.  even with a move to midtown/west side they will still need to market themselves.  hopefully, they learned their lesson here and can hit the ground running over there.  if not...after a year or so when they close that store they can try decatur....then a couple years later try alpharetta...

I agree with ratpack. they kind of went away and you forgot about them. They should be like Urban Cannibals on the board at least. Be visual and keep folks reminded you are here.

Yeah, I caught a glimpse over at the place coming through the other day and thought "Oh right, that place. They're still open?"
