Joe Paterno = DEAD
« on: January 22, 2012, 11:06 am »
For real this time after premature reports (perhaps) last night.

Had he died a year ago, his legacy would be very different.

I have to believe the stress of his situation and resulting weakness accelerated the lung cancer and his death.
I thought Cap'n drinked on his porch and dozed off? I thought I saw him one day - Denise

I agree with Mudd. The stress and guilt of his part helped speed up his death.

He was one helluva coach, but his legacy has been tarnished for all to see.

Maybe. Maybe not. The story is still fresh, emotions are still high, and his role is still being explored (legally, though for now he did nothing 'wrong' legally).

I think his 'legacy' will be defined over time. What it ends up as, I don't know. It won't be perfect, but it might be better than most people think as of today.
Sarcasm: the ability to insult idiots without them realizing it.

I think the chances of his legacy being better 10 years from now is about 99%. It's a tough thing to do in the heat of all this, but people do and will have to balance this very big failure with a whole lot of positive results of his life.

Sure, just like they did with Teddy Kennedy. You let just one co-ed drown in your car in Chappaquiddick Bay, and there goes your shot at the presidency.
If he gets an MLB contract, all is forgiven.

God let's hope history doesn't show that Paterno was anything comparable to Ted Kennedy.

On an unrelated note, CK: I love me some Ernest T. Bass. What are the other initials for?
