Call them, 1-800-COMCAST (266-2278).

Ask them what deals they have available for new internet customers. Should be able to get something relatively fast for $30-$40 a month for a year.

Being a newbie to the area, I got Comcast just before Christmas. Internet only, 25Mbps for $29 a month for 1st 6 months (plus "set=up" fees of course...). I've never used Comcast before, but their reputation proceeded them (customer no-service). So far though, no problems (touch wood) . Working great, fast, I use it quite a lot - streaming Netflicks, pandora, Vimeo (which is very bandwidth heavy) etc.
Their website is a disaster if trying to arrange a new service. Just a mess. Call them. One tip, if you know for sure you had Comcast cable service previously, it's a breeze to set-up and if it doesn't go right because of a screw-up on their end (happened to me), they will send out a tech at no cost. Also buy your own modem. It's cheaper than renting theirs after 9 months or so.

Comcast is coming next week. Helpful guy on the phone was pretty up front about fees and
How they rise. They can also add bandwidth at a small fee if needed for customers cheaper than getting
The next level right off the bat. We'll see how it goes!!

We have serious problems with our comcast.  When we ping, we have an average of 50%-75% packet loss.

Stevan was just on the phone with them for like an hour, since our bill jumped to $95 for basic cable and internet.  It's now down to $55, but literally the second he hung up with them, the internet got spotty.  He's back on with them now.

So, I can't say I recommend them, but unfortunately, it's the only thing that's available at our house.

You're near us, aren't you? We had SERIOUS issues for the first couple years. Every time the wind blew hard it seemed like our cable went out, and since it was usually back on when the tech showed, they could never find the problem. I'm not entirely sure what they eventually did, but it took husband escalating it well up the chain of annoyance and they finally changed something on the pole. Service is pretty good now.

Yeah.  There's a service tech coming out tomorrow, though one's come before and I seriously doubt it will help.
