Buying refurbished computers from Apple?
« on: December 17, 2011, 10:15 am »
My macbook experienced a "water event" and the repair quote from Apple is not economically justifiable for that age/type laptop.

I have found some laptops in their refurbished online store that are about 15% less than buying a new one...has anyone purchased refurbished from the Apple online store, and do you have any good/bad/ugly stories?

Thanks for your feedback.

I've bought quite a bit of refurbished goods from the Apple store and never had a problem.
I would make sure you know what you are getting model wise.  Often they are discontinued models, which is fine if you know that.
Savings are not great but everything I have bought has been indistinguisable from new.

I always recommend getting the refurb laptops from Apple. I have had a number of refurb'd MacBooks and they all have lasted just as long as anything else if not longer.

My theory is this. A company's new product was put together by drones on the line. The company's refurb product was put together the same way, and then checked and repaired by someone more skilled than the drones.

Lu has a refurb desktop, and it's been flawless.  Highly recommend.
