Samsung Allshare - Media Sharing Platform
« on: January 30, 2012, 11:35 am »
Do any buzzers use the media sharing application Allshare?

I'm having an issue where it disconnects intermittently while I'm streaming from my computer. Was wondering if others had this same issue or knew a workaround.

Yes, I'm looking on the interwebz for support, but there just doesn't seem to be much out there right now in regards to Allshare specifically.

Thanks!

Try ditching AllShare to see if that is the problem with the disconnects that you brings you back to the home screen.  Try installing Serviio or Plex.  I have only read about them but serviio is freeware and has gotten a lot of good reviews.

If you install one of those and they work for a full movie and no other weird glitches then you know it wasn't a bandwidth problem.  Your problem is really similar to the one I was having with my apple tv but that was a bandwidth issue and has since been fixed.

Gonna upgrade the router as soon as this random dilbert buys my TV....

And anything I use from here on will have to either be proprietary Samsung or available as an app. Not interested in adding more boxes or trying to root and effing my Tv in the A. 8D

Does your AllShare automatically update new programs in your shared folder? I haven't been able to find how to do that. I have it on my desktop sharing to a BluRay in our basement. Connections seem stable but I have to add new content to the shared folder for some reason and it is kind of annoying, the PS3 just finds whatever is on the shared drive using TVVersity.

Actually had some success last night by deleting some programs and pinpointing my PC as the problem (not Allshare). Have to use Windows Media Player, as Windows 7 (64bit) is not currently compatible with the regular Allshare. THis is a shame because I'm now going to have to convert all my matroska files to AVI or some other compatible format to WMP. :(

Scot, I have heard some other people complain that they had to manually update their shared folders for use on Allshare. Not sure how they remedied it, but I have seen others complaining.

Installed an alternate DLNA server (Serviio) on my PC and that seems to have fixed the problem. Still have the occasional network hiccup (dual band "N" router on the way) but the problem of continuous disconnects seems to have been solved.  :)%
