a Trader Joe's!
« on: July 09, 2011, 03:40 pm »
We heard a rumor that Trader Joe's was considering moving into the old Ace Hardware spot.  Anyone else hear this?  That's what the village needs.

Don't believe it, but I'd pretty much die of happiness. AND NEVER GO TO MIDTOWN AGAIN.

That had been floated around a long time ago, but it was also said it didn't work out. And I can't imagine how it would work given the parking lot and layout. A gym is supposed to go in there now, right?

A dude at Trader Joe's Midtown said the next location would be Decatur.   No way they'd open in the village.
Or maybe they're happy and content, living their little donut lives until the monstrous humans come along to rip their doughy flesh open with their teeth, sucking up their jelly innards.

There's still a "gym coming" sign on the old Ace.

From the people who brought you (back) The Glenwood?

I will believe it when I actually see it with my own eyes or hear it with my own ears.

Hah, that's exactly what went through my head the last time I drove by. (Don't forget those Gordon School condos!) On the plus side, there is still work going on at the old Wachovia. (I wish everybody would keep the names like The Graveyard did. Ace Athletic Club, Wachovia Burritos, Antique Mart Trendy Pub Grub, Lock & Key Weird Art Installation Co.

I like it, but I'm betting Wachovia would sue. Maybe Banks Burritos or The Burrito Vault?

Don't you mean A&P Trendy Pub Grub?  The site of the former grocery store would be great for a TJ's!

The building and parking is WAY too small for a traditional TJ's.  I can't imagine they would do it.

I agree that the old A&P building would make an excellent Traders' or perhaps a big deli or bakery.
