Key Largo
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:15 pm »
We are headed to a friend's wedding in Key Largo this April. Eric is DJing, so we will be driving with all of the equipment. I think we are going to stay at the Key Largo Inn, nothing fancy, but all the reviews say it's very clean and it's only $105 a night. Does anyone have any suggestions for fun, local restaurants and/or dive bars? We prefer the more casual, less touristy spots. We'll be there for 1 or 2 nights, we are making it a road trip with various stops on the drive down and the drive up.

Or, for $75 a night, you can stay in a studio apartment right on the ocean with an ocean balcony view!  Seriously, check out airbnb before you book a hotel. There's some good looking stuff on there for key largo. I always go there first in the US before booking a hotel because it's often cheaper and you can get a full apartment (with a kitchen, saves money on breakfast too!) often for less than the cost of a hotel room. Sometimes nothing is available, but whenever we've found an available place on there it's been fabulous.  Just my 2 cents!

I think we are going to stay at the Key Largo Inn,

I have driven by this place a million times and don't remember it being all that nice from the outside, I remember the rooms being pretty close to the road. You may want to expand the area that you are looking in for hotels, maybe look a little further south towards Islamorada. What mile marker is the event at? There are some rentals apartment type places but many of those have 1 week minimums.

The link is for a place in Miami Beach, which would be pretty far. I looked around to see if they had anything in the Keys and only thing I saw was a boat in Islamorada. Maybe Gosox had different search parameters but I did not see anything.
