Nashville was pretty great! I was surprised to see such a vibrant downtown area in a large southern city!
Even though the conference was very focused and time-consuming (and awesome!), we were located on Nashville's Broadway, and with a couple of long lunches and one big night out with the convention-goers I got to explore that area thoroughly! I will highly recommend The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum which exceeded my expectations and succeeded in filling me with an enormous sense of pride and amazement. The current Chet Atkins exhibit itself is worth the price of admission!
The only bogus destination I visited was The Gaylord Opryland Hotel, which I got hornswoggled into visiting by another adjuster who had once stayed there and wanted to show off, I guess. On the way in, the $18 + tax parking fee let me know what kind of night I was in for . . . lush indoor gardens and waterfalls didn't really impress as I sipped on $6 Bud Lights. The electronics vending machine was actually the most interesting thing I saw there.
Otherwise, I got to burn my gut out at Prince's Hot Chicken, catch a great garage punk show at a (not really a venue) tiny diner where I unexpectedly ran into some Memphis friends(!), visited Third Man Records, and have a fun time amongst the picker tourists at Antique Archeology!
Thanks for all the recommendations friends, and if you haven't already noticed, Facebook tells the story . . .
